Yesterday’s Remicade went very well, thank you for all the prayers… they worked!

We arrived and within minutes the IV team and the medication was there, they can not order the medication until they know we are physically there as it costs too much to make the medication if we don’t show up. That said you have to wait until the pharmacy has time to get to the order to mix the medication and this can depend on how busy the entire hospital is. Also, the IV tech is the only one for the entire “in-patient” care side of the hospital, so again, pending how busy the hospital is, you can wait quite awhile. It was very nice to have had the first part of the medication started before 2:00 (appointment at 1:00). Sadie did very good, hates the IV, but did a good job. Sadie’s grandma came to see where the Dialysis Unit is and to experience what it is like to take Sadie. In the long term she maybe able to take her for me once in a while; but we will wait until she is clearly out of the blue for any possible reaction (which would be another 5+ infusion). It was nice to have my mom there, the time went by very quickly and it was nice for Sadie to have a support “team”. I will post some new pictures of Sadie from her Remicade treatment soon.

Thank you to Chuck and Cathy (and Matias) for sending the cards for Sadie to read during her infusion – she thought that was such a great treat. Thank you to Kari and Carrissa for the book and paper dolls and for the card from Carrissa – Sadie LOVED them and was very surprised!! I printed out Sadie’s entire guest book from this site and let her read it all during the infusion, it was so fun for her she loved it and just hugged the pages when she was done.
Next on the Sadie appointment list would be Bastyr again on the 8th and the Rheumatologist on the 15th. We have an appointment for the Dermatologist to look at the sores, but pending how they look on Sunday we will probably cancel this appointment. All the sores are almost gone and getting better everyday.

I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine we have been gifted with – Beautiful – I forgot how wonderful it feels to be WARM!
