March 17, 2006

I didn’t realize it has been so long since I updated. Lots and Lots going on!
So, Sadie had her first pool therapy and it went very well, we now have a good routine to implement in the pool. On the pool issue: Big HUGE Thank You to Marty Groeschell and Kris Bennett who used their resources to advocate for our family and get us a pass to Harbor Square so Sadie could use the pool there. I meet with Harbor Square this week; they gave us a three month pass to use the pool. This is a blessing as we just couldn’t afford the cost to take her to a pool. Our first pool time there will be next week.

Last weekend our family went to the coast with some close friends from Medford. It was wonderful to get away from all of the doctor appointment and just pure rushing that has been our lives for the last few months. We all had a wonderful time.

Sadie had her first Remicade infusion yesterday. We arrived at Children’s at 10:30 for physical therapy (which was the hardest therapy appointment she has had) and then went to start the Remicade. The nursing staff was WONDERFUL and made me feel so much more confident in our choice to try this drug. They told me that any type of reaction Sadie would have would first be seen in her vitals; her temperature would go up and her blood pressure would go down. Neither happened, her vitals were stable the entire time. The process takes quite a while, but we were prepared for that. Sadie was very tired and very pale when we were done, but is bouncing off the walls today.

We go back to Bastyr on Tuesday and then the next Remicade appointment is the 30th – where again we will do Physical Therapy first!
