Sadie went in for a check up last week, six weeks after starting Enbrel and five weeks after her joint injections... great news - she looks GOOD! It is absolutely amazing the difference six weeks has made. It is such a nice feeling to walk out of the doctor's office on a positive note. All her affected joints are looking pretty happy right now and very mobile. We will continue the Enbrel and go back the end of October to see how thing are looking then.
Dr. Wallace (Sadie’s rheumatologist) did X-ray's of both her ankles and we will be reviewing these at our next visit. The X-ray's will show us what type of permanent damage her ankle has suffered. She will keep going to physical therapy once a week and massage therapy once a month. Now is the time, during un-active flare, that we work on the emotional and physical damage done during flare. Sadie is very sensitive right now and her emotions are just at the surface... I still am not sure how to best help her so I will be getting some outside feedback on this soon.
Another “new” thing would be that Bill gave his first injections… we thought it was important to have him do this a few times in case there was a time I was unable. He did a great job and so did Sadie!!!
