Last night was the third injection of methotrexate and it went much smoother then even last week - whew!
Sadie is pretty sore the last two days, not sure if it is just normal day-to-day stuff or what, but we are all feeling like it is time for her to turn the corner… These medications need to start working for her. It is always hard to gage where she is with pain in regards to her ankle… she has so much going on there that it is very unclear if the muscles are just exhausted or if it is the flare up that is affecting her.
Sadie will have her first cast put on this Thursday (tomorrow) in the afternoon. Please say a prayer that this cast gives Sadie some relaxation rather then causing pain. I have heard and read that the casts can give a patient a ton of relief. I have also read and heard the opposite which is that it can be uncomfortable and painful. Luckily we do have some medications available if she is in pain, but I just would rather her have the break she deserves. Your prayers in that direction would be greatly appreciated. Her cast will be taken off on Monday the 13th and if her ankle is tolerating it well, they will put another cast on the same day.
I wanted to tell you all some positive news… I don’t reflect on this enough at times… Sadie is doing remarkably well emotionally, the last few months she amazes me. We have real honest (seems almost grown up) talks about how she’s feeling, what she’s worried about, questions she has. She has an enormous about of self awareness right now and it has really been a blessing. She is an amazing girl! Friday was a great example… she came down stairs as all of us were heading out the door in different direction that night and said “would now be a good time for my shot?”. I stopped what I was doing and just hugged her… I told her how proud I was of her for coming down and ultimately taking accountability. She told me “I don’t like having the shots, but if they get me better, then I know I need to do it”. – WHOW!
I thank the Lord every day that He Blessed me by bring her into my life!
