As I am setting up this site I am going through these past years and reflecting on those times.
Here are some of my candid thoughts as I went through this process.
Reading through 2005:
I just copy and pasted all of 2005 and then went through and read them all. It has been a long time since I have done that. It seems odd... it seems old. Enbrel, I remember the shots. She hated them. I remember those joint injects even thought it has been YEARS since she has had one. I remember the thrill of her riding her bike, our first KAT camp and our first Jingle Bell Run. On the other hand... it's hard to read. I read it and my mind starts to fast forward though all the other memories from there to now. To knowing we are just weeks from her 2nd major surgery. It's odd. I am so incredibly proud of her. She is so brave, filled with courage and inspiring to me. The other thing that hit me was the post in which I wrote "Sadie has been dealing with this for 6 years". Six years... now we are on 11+ - how I still pray for God to remove this from her! I also pray that He gives her strength each day to face this affliction with understanding that it is for His glory.
2006:
As I read through 2006 I think "that was seriously a bad year!" blah. Sure glad we got past all that. I almost forgot about the casts, the brace and what that was like for the first time. I almost forgot about 3 injections a week at home. I enjoyed re-reading the post where God says No. I almost forgot about the open sores! I vividly remember her first remicade infusion and the days when infusions were in the Dialysis unit at childrens. I remember her breaking her left leg (what a nightmare) and one of the worst moments of my days as a mother; re-reading that post broke me! I defiantly remember the joy of her walking for the first time after that broken leg fiasco. Seems there were so many odd things that year. I always love reading the Welcome to Holland story... what a beautiful reminder that is!
2007:
It's odd to read about the surgery she had in November 2007 knowing we are weeks away from the same situation. At that time (in my mind still) I had NO idea that she would undergo this again so soon. I do think that God placed it on my heart to move this over to a blog for reason and one might be that I needed to re-read all the pre and post surgery information. I have to say, although parts are fresh, I had once again left some of the more unpleasant memories behind me. I read it and reflect on God's goodness to get all of us through another huge bump in the road and I look forward to reading 2008 as I remember the surgery giving Sadie some much needed relief!
2008:
Seems like 2008 was not so long ago; it was a better year than those before it, we are greatful!
